Devuthani Ekadashi fasting and worship date: 12 November 2024
This year the Ekadashi Tithi of Kartik Shukla Paksha is starting on 11 November 2024 at 6:47 pm and will last till 12 November 2024 at 4:06 pm. From a religious point of view, the Ekadashi fast is considered auspicious only when it does not coincide with Dashami. The Ekadashi of 11 November is starting in the evening after the end of Dashami, thus the Ekadashi of this day will be ‘Dashami Yukt Ekadashi’. In Padma Purana, the Ekadashi fast with Dashami has been described as fruitless, hence there is no special benefit of fasting on this day.
On the other hand, on November 12, Ekadashi will be free from Dashami for the whole day and Dwadashi will enter after 4:06 pm. According to Padma Purana, Dwadashi Tithi is very dear to God and hence the fast of ‘Dwadashi Yukta Ekadashi’ is completely fruitful. According to religious beliefs, fasting on such Ekadashi gives special virtuous results and this fast is considered very auspicious. Therefore, this year, fasting on Ekadashi on 12 November 2024 will be beneficial and give full results. But worship only after Bhadra ends.
