Manchester United are reportedly “very serious” about signing Lens center-back Facundo Medina due to the 21-year-old impressing in Ligue 1 in the first half of the season.
Originally educated at River Plate, Medina only joined Lens last summer from Argentinian club Talleres and immediately played regularly in France’s top flight for his newly promoted club.
Local newspaper La Voix du Nord notes that Lens paid around 3.6 million euros with add-ons of up to 2.4 million euros for Medina. But it is said that United could act “quickly” and offer them 12million euros (£ 10.7million).
It would present a nice profit for Lens and they are expected to still keep Medina on loan for the remainder of the season, with Medina unlikely to move to Manchester in January.
United are on the hunt for a center-back in 2021 and have already spotted a number of players as they assess their options.
While also keeping an eye on the contractual situation surrounding Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid, many of their potential targets are young or still have long-term potential to develop at Old Trafford.
