West Ham in talks with Sevilla for forward Youssef En-Nesyri

West Ham United have made an offer of € 30million (£ 26.8million) to Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri as he looks to replace Sebastian Haller.

Despite costing around £ 40million in 2019, Haller was sold to Ajax earlier this month for a shade of over £ 20million. Although he doesn’t score regularly, the Frenchman was still a starter since late October, leaving the Hammers in need of a new “number nine”.

En-Nesyri, who only joined Sevilla in January 2020 after impressing for Leganes, is of similar figure and physical stature to Haller and has scored 12 goals in all competitions so far this season .

90 mins previously revealed that West Ham is looking to the European market to replace Haller and is considering a number of options, including Reims frontman Boulaye Dia.

Athletic now add that En-Nesyri has become their preferred target, which has led to the submission of an offer for the 23-year-old Morocco international. This formal offer would represent an initial value of 25 million euros (22.3 million pounds sterling), to which is added 5 million euros (4.5 million pounds sterling) of add-ons.

A first proposal was rejected but discussions continued between the clubs.

Sevilla paid € 20m for En-Nesyri 12 months ago when they triggered his release clause at Leganes, who also lost Martin Braithwaite to Barcelona for € 18m in similar circumstances shortly after.

As well as trying to replace Haller through the transfer market, West Ham are ready to promote from the inside as well and bring 18-year-old Mipo Odubeko into the first team.

The former Manchester United academy player has been training with the senior squad for a year and manager David Moyes now believes he is ready to be let go.

Odubeko made his West Ham debut as a substitute in the recent FA Cup third round clash with non-league Stockport County and was named to the Premier League bench for the first time on Saturday for victory over Burnley.
