“We’re finally happy, the Indian players have been fantastic” – Hyderabad boss Manuel Marquez rejoices over squad headache after big win over Chennaiyin
Halicharan Narzary scored a brace as Hyderabad clinched a 4-1 victory over Chennaiyin…
Hyderabad defeated Chennaiyin 4-1 in the 2020-21 Indian Super League clash at GMC Bambolim Stadium on Monday.
This categorical victory allowed the Nizams to climb to sixth position in the standings with 12 points from nine matches.
The first half produced end-to-end action with Hyderabad testing the opposing goalkeeper on several occasions. Hyderabad head coach Manuel Marquez believes his team failed to convert the odds in the opening 45 minutes.
“Finally, we can be happy. I think the team played a very good game. In the first half, we failed to convert very good chances. After the first goal, Chennaiyin had to take risks and we took advantage of the chances and the space we had, ”Marquez said after the game.
Marquez has mentioned that he wants to let star striker Aridane Santana rest for the game, but Francisco Sandaza’s injury forced him to change his plan. The Spaniard was also delighted with the performance of the Indian players.
“You want to have the best players available. Previously, Fran was injured, as were Sastre and Joel. The level of Indian players was fantastic at the start of the tournament. Now, in the last 3 games, they are tired. We wanted to give Aridane some rest but Fran got injured. “
Marquez praised his team’s strength and hailed the possibility of a selection headache.
“I welcome this problem (of selection). All coaches want this problem. We now have to play 11 games in 2 months. If we can handle this situation, we will be fantastic. I hope the Indian players will continue to play (well) too. “
Hyderabad will now face NorthEast United on Friday.
