West Bromwich Albion and Arsenal fans were forced to look forward to the fate of their clash at the Hawthorns on Saturday night after a heavy snowstorm took control of the Midlands.
As the kick-off quickly approached, concerns began to grow over whether the game would take place when a snowstorm blanketed the pitch in snow. The gardeners worked quickly to make the lines visible on the green turf under the white, and referee Martin Atkinson was happy the game was going.
But with the game at risk, you guys on Twitter were at your best as always.
I’m so excited Arsenal lose to a West Brom deflection goal followed by a Snow Angel celebration

While there were fears that some players might not be successful under these conditions, a man who would be in his element came to mind. Scottish Kieran Tierney will be more used to the cold than some players from sunnier climates, and we all knew he would be well prepared for that trip to the snow.
However, a stupid man quickly doubted Tierney’s resistance under these conditions …
Fall hard enough now. Even Tierney will need a rider. pic.twitter.com/QU0KAYFCyo

But Tierney did not disappoint.
Whatever the weather. Same old KT.

And we all had a good laugh at the defender’s expense anyway. Fair play with the guy, he’s made of tough stuff.

But if there’s one game you wouldn’t like, it’s a trip down Sam Allardyce’s side in the freezing cold, with the snow crashing down. Mikel Arteta had to fear the worst …

These conditions are what Sam Allardyce would have liked in his sleep last night, but we’re going to make some brilliant photos of them nonetheless. Arsenal has been playing in the snow for centuries.

Some Gooners weren’t convinced their team’s chances in such a tough set of conditions, and the apologies began to unfold before a ball was kicked.
Snow, far in a Big Sam team and comes out of a crowded matchlist. We need the Lord’s guidance to win today

Even divine intervention won’t save you from Big Sam, man.
Can’t say I care about us against a Big Sam team in the snow but hopefully they show up tonight.

Actually yes that’s a good point, I take back what I said, playing away from home against a West Brom team led by Big Sam in the snow, could be dangerous for Martinelli if he started https: //t.co/n3zg8dKJHk

Luckily for soccer fans around the world, the pitch has been sanctioned as safe and playable, and that false alarm was purely a minor hiccup before Saturday’s big show.
More snow is expected around 7:30 p.m. so things could get interesting again once the game is underway …
