Tottenham Hotspur have opened contract talks with forward Harry Kane amid interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Kane, who is on contract until 2024, was recently linked with a £ 90million transfer to Manchester City from Pep Guardiola this summer, with City bracing for Sergio Aguero’s inevitable departure.
According to The Independent, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reluctant to let the rumors grow too much and he wants to make sure Kane is fully happy at the club by tying him to another new contract.
A first line of dialogue has been opened and while no real progress has yet been made, Kane is said to be open to the idea of handing over his future to Spurs again.
Kane’s biggest demand is for Spurs to stay competitive for trophies, and Levy is hoping to make the 27-year-old understand that they can stay in the mix for silverware as long as Kane is on the squad. Discussions will likely focus on this point, especially with four-time Premier League winners City.
Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest – a connection that almost certainly stems from the appointment of former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino as new manager.
PSG are believed to see Kane as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe if he leaves for Real Madrid, but he’s not the only Spurs player on the French side’s radar.
Foot Mercato claim midfielder Dele Alli could be on his way to Parc des Princes after Pochettino spoke directly with the England side to try and figure out what’s going on in his career.
Dele, who was also heavily linked with PSG this summer, would very much like to reunite with Pochettino in France as he sees the boss as the perfect man to help get his stall career back on track.
Among the pair of players, Dele looks much more likely to leave the club in the near future, and Spurs now appear to be working to ensure Kane stays at Tottenham Hotspur stadium for the foreseeable future.
