Tottenham roster set to start against Wolves
Tottenham will look to get their Premier League campaign back on track with their trip to Wolves on Sunday night.
A three-game one-point streak saw Jose Mourinho’s Spurs drop from first to sixth in the English top flight, despite reaching the Carabao Cup semi-finals with a 3- win. 1 in Stoke on Wednesday, with Gareth Bale, Ben Davies. and Harry Kane all score.
Here’s the side they should line up for their day in the West Midlands.
Hugo Lloris (GK) – Could do with a really impressive performance after some questionable projections. Has not shown great control of his box in matches against Stoke and Leicester and needs to get back into shape.
Serge Aurier (RB) – Put on a horrific performance against Leicester, giving a penalty and often getting caught out of position. Matt Doherty played midweek so the Ivorian is expected to return to the starting XI.
Toby Alderweireld (CB) – Another man with makeup to do. Scored a goal against Leicester, after looking at his best.
Eric Dier (CB) – The England international has established himself as one of Tottenham’s starting central defenders and thrives in his “back to the wall” performances. Only four Spurs players have had more Premier League minutes than Dier this season.
Sergio Reguilon (LB) – Ben Davies may have scored an important goal at Stoke, but Spaniard Reguilon is likely to be substituted. He will offer more offensive threat than the Welshman on the left.
Moussa Sissoko (CM) – I came off the bench midweek to see the Carabao Cup win and will start from here, providing defensive stability but not too much in the final third. I got help with Kane’s strike against Stoke, spirit.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (CM) – Denmark international Hojbjerg has been Tottenham’s best midfielder so far this season. Beware of possible punches on tackles or interceptions.
Tanguy Ndombele (AM) – Spurs fans worried with his absence against Stoke but were just rested. Usually makes a good turn or two in the first ten minutes before being slammed by an opposing midfielder.
Steven Bergwin (RW) – Get a lot of defensive work to help Aurier on the right. Could do with a few offensive returns to boost his confidence, but the player Mourinho trusts right now to pair Kane and Son up front.
Harry Kane (ST) – Nine goals and ten assists in the league are a remarkable comeback for the England captain, although he was unable to score the defeats against Liverpool and Leicester. Usually he gets back on track after a few scoreless games, so expect him to do business on Sunday.
Son Heung-min (LW) – Son has already tied his league goal tally last season with 11 strikes. His partnership with Kane has been one of the stories of the season.
