Tottenham Hotspur training set to start against Marine

Jose Mourinho takes his side from Tottenham Hotspur alongside Marine du Nord in the Premier League on Sunday night, in one of the most anticipated FA Cup fixtures on the third round weekend.

The hosts will be inspired by the prospect of a giant murder and the fact that they have won their last two games. However, they have not played since Boxing Day as their championship season has been put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. At least they are rested?

Meanwhile, Spurs enter a tie after also winning their last two games, including an EFL Cup semi-final victory over Brentford in midweek to reach Wembley. Mourinho is not expected to give up cup competitions and field a strong (ish) squad against Marine.

Here’s how they should line up.

Joe Hart (GK) – The former England number one is Mourinho’s second choice at Tottenham and has been the preferred option in the Europa League this year.

Matt Doherty (RB) – The Irishman is back from suspension, having been sent off against Leeds earlier in the month. He should replace Serge Aurier on the right of the back line.

Joe Rodon (CB) – The 23-year-old has had a pleasant start to life at Spurs but has not played since joining Arsenal in early December. He will look forward to the minutes against Marine.

Japhet Tanganga (CB) – The defender has struggled with an injury this season, but entered the pitch late against Brentford and is likely to start on Sunday.

Ben Davies (LB) – The Welshman has started Spurs’ last two games and will look to build on four assists so far this season.

Harry Winks (CM) – Despite speculation, Winks is set to start in the middle of the field as Moussa Sissoko could rest after an impressive midweek performance.

Harvey White (CM) – Mourinho has promised some debut against Marine, making Harvey White a likely partner of Winks in midfield. The 19-year-old has scored ten goals in 11 Premier League 2 games this season – one to watch for sure.

Dele Alli (AM) – The Englishman has been out of favor this season, making just 11 appearances in total. He could be in line for a start in the FA Cup draw, however, and could dominate the non-league defense ahead of him.

Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale (RW) – He hasn’t hit the heights Spurs fans have hoped for so far, but, boy, the Marines’ backline could be tough if the Welshman starts on Sunday. He’s told his boss he wants to play, so expect him in the top three if fitness allows.

Vinicius (ST) – The Brazilian has arrived at the end of the last two games and is likely to start this one, with hopes of building on six goals in ten appearances for Spurs so far.

Lucas Moura (LW) – The winger came out with 20 to go against Brentford and looks set to start again for Spurs. He’s played 25 times this campaign, scoring five goals and two assists in total – a real chance to improve that tally against Marine.
