New Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel insisted he was happy with his side’s 0-0 draw against Wolves on Wednesday, saying it was a real sign of things to come during his reign.
The game, which came just 24 hours after Tuchel’s first training session with the team, saw Chelsea dominate possession and set single-half and full-game passing records this season. However, the clear odds remained at a premium and it was the Wolves who arguably had the best opportunities to win the game.

It wasn’t exactly the most inspiring performance, but Tuchel was determined to see the positives and couldn’t hide his joy at Chelsea’s energy and determination.
“Yes [disappointed not to win], it was deserved for the effort of the guys, “said Tuchel (via Sky Sports News).” But I spoke in the locker room and told everyone there was no room for disappointment or doubt.
“I was very happy with the energy performance, we were structured and we did not allow any dangerous counterattack against one of the more dangerous teams. We were very well organized, courageous, played with courage as a team as well offensively. and defensively.
“We had a good impact on the bench and a very good attitude from the players who didn’t come. It was hard work, but we never lost intensity and for that I am happy. If this is our starting point, I’m looking for where we will end. “
Despite this enthusiasm, Tuchel urged fans to be realistic about their aspirations for the current season, insisting that Chelsea’s main goal is to get back into the top four.
“The title is far away, you have to be realistic”, continued the boss. “Honestly, when you sign for Chelsea or, like me, as a coach, you sign with the expectation of challenging the titles; the Premier League, the Champions League and all the Cups. It is absolutely clear.
“At the same time, you have to be realistic and at the moment there are a lot of points and places between us and the fourth. We have to work on the details and progress of our game daily and the points will follow, I’m absolutely sure.

“We have the ability with this team to hurt everyone in every championship, in every competition, and it’s my job to get the team to that level as quickly as possible.
“We’re going to build a team that nobody wants to play against. And it’s the challenge for me to do it as quickly as possible. ”
