As the UAE government eased restrictions on travel movements and announced the reopening of its airports, flydubai launched repatriation flights to selected destinations, including several cities in India and Pakistan, with immediate effect.
The Dubai-based low-cost airline said on Friday it will begin special repatriation flights to multiple cities in 11 countries to facilitate its stranded citizens and passengers in the UAE.
UAE residents and stranded citizens of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Bulgaria, Finland, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine can reserve their seats on special repatriation flights on the flydubai website starting today .
“In light of the flight restrictions established by the countries of the flydubai network, we are working 24 hours a day to help you travel back home safely,” said flydubai.
“Citizens of these countries, as well as relatives of citizens of these countries, may be entitled to book a repatriation flight. Please check with the appropriate embassy before making a reservation,” the airline said on its website.
Saj Ahmad, chief analyst at StrategicAero Research in London, said these flights are geared towards repatriation efforts rather than any normalization of scheduled flights.
“Right now, this is a good way for flydubai to not only introduce security measures that will eventually be implemented in the near future, but also allows the airline to examine the degree of demand that exists, as people still do. they invariably need to travel, despite the ongoing pandemic, “Ahmad told the Khaleej Times on Friday.
Flydubai said all flights are only for the repatriation of stranded passengers and will carry citizens of the mentioned countries currently residing in or visiting the UAE.
Flydubai has already operated some special flights to Pakistan and has repatriated stranded Pakistani citizens to the country’s main cities.
The fare offered on special flydubai flights includes 20 kg of checked baggage allowed. “Carry-on baggage will be limited to the laptop, purse, briefcase or baby items,” the airline said.
Flydubi also imposed some conditions for the ticket in the special repatriation service and said that all flights will operate from Terminal 2 at Dubai International.
“All flights are subject to government approvals and will operate only if approvals have been obtained,” he said.
The airline also notified that no meals will be served during the flight, but a box of snacks will be provided to passengers. No penalty will be applied in case of flight modification or cancellation, he said.
“Any applicable refund will be processed in the form of a flydubai coupon.
If you are not traveling on the flight you have booked, please note that the ticket is not refundable or exchangeable, “said the airline.
