Tanguy Ndombele reveals talks with Kylian Mbappe over PSG transfer
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has admitted to having had regular conversations with Kylian Mbappe about a move to Paris Saint-Germain earlier in his career.
Ndombele was first linked with the French giants in his decisive season with Lyon in 2017/18, while rumors resurfaced last summer after Ndombele’s delicate first season with Spurs.
Telefoot has done its best to try and rekindle the rumors in an interview with Ndombele, and the Frenchman has refused to close the door on a potential return to Paris in the future.
“I am a boy from the Paris region. Will I wear the Parisian jersey one day? Why not – but today I’m at Tottenham, and it’s going well, ”he said.
“I spoke with Kylian about the possibility of coming to PSG. Two or three years in a row, we discussed it. It didn’t happen and today at Tottenham is going well, but why not in the future? ”
Ndombele also offered a voice recording of Mbappe, who said: “I hope to play with you again as soon as possible.”
The odds of Spurs selling Ndombele in the near future seem slim. After a difficult first season, the 24-year-old has found his place in the Premier League and has become one of Jose Mourinho’s most important players.
However, things were not always so rosy. Clashes with Mourinho in his first year in England took their toll on Ndombele, who admitted he was considering leaving the club because of his struggles.
“My first season was difficult, I wondered a lot, now the page has been turned”, he added. “It’s true that at a certain point I wanted to leave, I didn’t feel in the right place. I told them I wanted to go out. They didn’t want me to go.
“At first everything was going very well. After injuries we [he & Mourinho] went to war. Well, not really the war because he is the coach, I respect him. I have a strong character, and he can be stronger than me. “
