‘Saka has the potential to be a world class player’ – Lauren praises young Arsenal

The former Gunners defender is a big fan of the England left-wing international and considers Gabriel Martinelli “one of the best talents”.

Bukao Saka “has the potential to be a world-class player,” said Lauren, the former Arsenal defender also hailing Gabriel Martinelli as “one of the best talents in the Premier League”.

The Gunners have shown considerable confidence in youth this season, with Mikel Arteta forced to switch after overseeing the club’s worst start to the campaign since 1974-75.

Seasoned veterans such as Mesut Ozil and Sokratis were kicked out, giving academy graduates and youngsters a chance to prove their worth.

Emile Smith Rowe is the latest to make the most of his big break, with the 20-year-old playmaker shining on the Premier League stage.

Saka is another to have shown he can do it among the elite, with the talented teenager having already reached 65 senior appearances while collecting four full caps in England.

The 19-year-old has also pledged to sign a new contract at Emirates Stadium, with Lauren expecting great things from the all-rounder on the left.

He said Gentingbet: “Saka has the potential to become a world class player. It is a player who understands the game that is so important.

“How many times does he lose the ball during a match? Not a lot at all. He plays simple. He can play in a variety of different positions and do a great job in all of them.

“I still think he hasn’t reached his full potential. Sometimes in order for a young player to reach his potential, he needs to be surrounded by top players who will make them better. But Saka has all the qualities to be a top player.

Brazil forward Martinelli is another one for whom Lauren has high hopes.

“Martinelli is one of the best talents in the Premier League,” added Lauren, who was part of Arsenal’s “Invincibles” squad in 2003-4. “He didn’t have a chance to get injured last season because he was showing great promises. He’s fast, he can attack spaces in the last third.

“He can play in the number nine or wide positions. He’s quick in transitions and has a lot of pace, as you can see from his goal against Chelsea last year. I hope he can come back strong from his injury and pick up where he left off.

“Arsenal need all of their players to be in good shape – it’s a very long season. And Martinelli is so helpful in Arsenal’s attack because he can play in any position on the top three.
