Rob Holding signs new long-term contract with Arsenal

Arsenal have confirmed that center-back Rob Holding has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club at least until 2024.

Holding has always had a presence on the Gunners’ side this season, making 14 Premier League appearances and occupying a prime spot in the Europa League. His performances have been solid, helping Mikel Arteta to set one of the best defensive records in the division.

Arsenal broke the news on their official website with technical director Edu saying: “We are very happy to have signed Rob for a further contract extension.

“He’s 25, so he’s still coming to the peak of his career, and we’re delighted that he’s been with us during these important years. Rob has shown great quality and maturity on and off the pitch in recent months and is developing well. We look forward to Rob continuing to grow in the years to come. “

Mikel Arteta added: “Since I started as a manager I have been very impressed with Rob’s contribution at the club and in the dressing room, on and off the pitch. The quality of his daily work on the training grounds is excellent and he translates this into consistently high performance in matches.

“We all know the quality of Rob, which he has shown during the intense moments of these last two FA Cup victories.

“We are all very happy that Rob has signed a new contract, he is very popular with all the players and staff, and we look forward to seeing him continue to grow with us in the years to come.”

Holding’s deal includes the possibility for Arsenal to trigger a one-year extension in his final season at the club, meaning he could stay at Emirates Stadium until 2025.

The news comes just months after Holding was rumored to be on the verge of leaving the club amid concerns over playing time following the summer arrival of Brazilian center-back Gabriel Magalhhaes.
