Real Madrid have confirmed Eden Hazard’s latest fitness setback, the forward suffering from a muscle injury.
After joining Los Blancos in 2019, Hazard went through a scorching spell. Arriving at the club overweight, he has since suffered from a litany of injury issues, making just 35 appearances in all competitions. His form has also been quite disastrous, with the Belgian scoring just four goals and registering seven assists for Real so far.
Hazard has looked like he’s been taking a turn lately, starting each of his side’s last three La Liga games – although he hasn’t managed 90 minutes in any of them. His return from goals has also been slightly better, with the forward scoring three goals in 13 games so far this season.
However, once again this brief recovery turned out to be a false dawn. It was reported on Tuesday that Hazard missed training after feeling some “discomfort” and Los Blancos have now confirmed he suffered an injury.
“After the tests carried out today on our player Eden Hazard by Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury to his left front right. Awaiting development ”, indicates an official statement.
The club have not disclosed exactly how long he will be out, but the 30-year-old is likely to miss a month of action for Los Blancos.
To literally add insult to injury, Burger King España trolled Hazard on Tuesday, suggesting he was taking time to take advantage of their latest two-for-one offer. All kidding aside, his move to Real looks more and more like one of the worst top-tier transfers of all time.
Zinedine Zidane could also get him back to his best before the end of the season, with his side already ten points behind leaders La Liga and fierce rivals Atletico Madrid, who also have a match in hand.
