PUMA abandons playmaker’s FUTURE Z 1.1 dream with NeymarJr

PUMA has abandoned the latest edition of the FUTURE Z silo, which will be carried onto the pitch by top playmakers Neymar Jr, James Maddison, Marco Reus, Eugenie le Sommer and Dzsenifer Marozsán.

The FUTURE Z 1.1 arrives in vibrant “yellow-alert and PUMA black” colourways, with German sportswear giants claiming that creative players can “drive them crazy” with these shoes on.

And to be fair, the color is so dizzying it’ll probably be enough to surprise top defenders.

The boot is built around PUMA’s FUTUREFIT + compression band in the center of the shoe, which should keep the foot secure and supported for the sudden explosive movements that are synonymous with the Brazilian baller Neymar.

Meanwhile, the upper is made of a newly developed knitted material and covered with a thin layer of “GripControl Pro” for a little more control over touch and ball.

“The biggest innovation of the FUTURE Z is the compression band, placed in the midfoot,” said Lilly Cocks, a team sports shoe developer at PUMA. “The bracelet was developed using a special combination of polyester and spandex yarns, as well as special technical yarns to create the perfect balance of compression, comfort and durability, giving the wearer a second skin feel.”

There’s plenty of traction with the “Dynamic Motion System” outsole, with an eye-catching Z-shaped sole that reduces weight and provides 360-degree locking around the foot. It will help those brand laps and endless pace turns.

The silhouette was actually designed with the help of medical staff from some of the major PUMA clubs around the world to ensure that the shoe has an “optimal stud configuration”. This led to the central crampon at the pivot point of the shoe to promote quick changes of direction. Interesting stuff.
