Premier League preview and predictions: Gameweek 19

You barely caught your breath, right?

Don’t worry, you’re not alone – but there’s no time to chew up the fat from the Premier League’s midweek games as it’s all straight into another weekend of Grueling action for 18 of the division’s 20 teams.

Aston Villa and Everton will watch after their game has been postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak at the Midlanders, but for Liverpool and Manchester United it’s a date with fate at Anfield – a date that’s set up with in backdrop Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side topped the Premier League table for the first time in years.

A number of teams play twice during Game Week 19, but for now here is 90 minutes preview and forecast of the first dose of games offered.

Wolves vs. West Brom

What time is the kick-off? 12:30 p.m. (GMT)
Where is it played? Molinous
TV channel? BT Sport (UK), fuboTV (US)

The weekend’s action begins in Molineux as struggling West Brom heads to the timid Wolves in hopes of securing some welcome points on the road.

The Baggies were expected to consolidate things under Sam Allardyce, but other than the tough performances against Liverpool he struggled to coordinate their defense as he has been able to so many times before.

Wolves aren’t an easy place to go, but with Raul Jimenez on the sidelines, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side aren’t as prolific in front of goal as they once were and, as a result, don’t hold not the same fear factor. A close game could result in a much needed away point.

Prediction: Wolves 1-1 West Brom

Leeds v Brighton

What time is the kick-off? 3:00 p.m. (GMT)
Where is it played? Elland Road
TV channel? Sky Sports Main Event (UK), fuboTV (US)

Leeds United scores a lot, concedes a lot and is generally a lot of fun to watch.

Brighton play a lot of good things, stroke the ball elegantly, but deceiving in front of goal is often more flattering, as evidenced by their hopelessly poor Premier League record of two wins in 18 games. A tough performance at Manchester City was impressive, but Graham Potter needs points, not great performances.

At Elland Road, this might be a step too far.

Prediction: Leeds 3-2 Brighton

West Ham vs. Burnley

TV channel? Amazon Prime (UK), Peacock Premium (US)

West Ham are on the rise under David Moyes, although they have been deprived of number one forward Michail Antonio for part of the season due to injury.

He’s back now, and that’s a good job too – as the Hammers chose to take advantage of struggling Sebastien Haller earlier this month. West Ham’s opponents this weekend are Burnley, who has historically given them a bit of heartache with their lively front of both Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood.

The Kiwi love to score against the Hammers and could do so again in another hotly contested game.

Prediction: West Ham 1-1 Burnley

Fulham vs. Chelsea

What time is the kick-off? 5:30 p.m. (GMT)
Where is it played? Cottage Craven
TV channel? Sky Sports Main Event (UK), fuboTV (US)

The gloves will be removed in west London on Saturday night as the ever-improving Fulham take on neighborhood rivals Chelsea at Craven Cottage.

Scott Parker’s side have been playing much better lately and rightly took a point from Tottenham midweek after falling behind a goal from Harry Kane. In truth, they probably should have gotten all three points.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are blowing very hot and very cold, and can be scintillating or absolutely ghastly under Frank Lampard. The boss hopes it’s the latter on the day of the derby, and he can make his wish come true.

Prediction: Fulham 1-2 Chelsea

Leicester vs Southampton

What time is the kick-off? 8:00 p.m. (GMT)
Where is it played? King Power Stadium
TV channel? BT Sport (UK), Peacock Premium (US)

Two aesthetically pleasing teams to watch face off on Saturday late in the game as Leicester’s top thieves welcome Southampton to King Power Stadium.

Oddly, hosts Brendan Rodgers play so much better away from familiar surroundings, likely because Jamie Vardy is still thriving thanks to the increased amount of space left behind defenses. Against Southampton he won’t get much – and instead, the visitors will be looking to take the ball as much as they can and fend off the Foxes.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s well-oiled squeezing machine will be without Danny Ings, as he tested positive for COVID-19, which could result in an entertaining blank.

Prediction: Leicester 0-0 Southampton

Sheffield United v Tottenham

What time is the kick-off? 2:00 p.m. (GMT)
Where is it played? Bramall lane
TV channel? Sky Sports Main Event (UK), fuboTV (US)

The boys of the basement Sheffield United missed the score last time against Newcastle, thanks to a penalty from Billy Sharp in the second half.

The Blades hope to continue that momentum in their clash with Tottenham, from whom they took four points last season in what was a first fairytale campaign back in the top flight. Jose Mourinho hasn’t forgotten how his side capitulated at Bramall Lane last season, and correcting that wrong is sure to be high on his agenda.

What did Jose Mourinho have to say about Sheffield United?

“It’s a very good team. So honestly if in our mind we’re going to play the worst Premier League team, we’re going to have big problems. ”

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min will provide the firepower as Spurs look to ward off recent disappointing draws ripped from the jaws of victory.

Prediction: Sheffield United 0-2 Tottenham

Liverpool vs Manchester United

It has been a long time at Manchester United, but they are finally back on top of the Premier League under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Red Devils travel to Liverpool to try to salve the injuries of a weakened fierce opponent, but Jurgen Klopp will be convinced his formidable forward three – complemented by his razor sharp midfield – can help bring United back to earth.

Anthony Martial injured?

The French Manchester United striker is grappling with a muscle complaint and could be joined on the sidelines by Nemanja Matic if he does not pass a fitness test.

The roar of the Kop will obviously be missing, but this game should grab the attention of the whole country – and when all is said and done, it could be part of the booty brought in by a moment of magic… or maybe a penalty.

Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Manchester United

Manchester City v Crystal Palace

What time is the kick-off? 7:15 p.m. (GMT)
Where is it played? Etihad Stadium
TV channel? Sky Sports Main Event (UK), Peacock Premium (US)

Manchester City are back, there is no two way to do it.

Granted, they’re not at their top scorer, but Pep Guardiola’s side busted the ball well, pulled off their defense bet after pairing John Stones with Ruben Dias and played the country’s hottest young talents well. . , the dynamic Phil Foden.

Three points on the way then? Well, it might not be that simple – as Crystal Palace has proven that they can go to the Etihad and get a result against all odds. Can they start over? We don’t think so.

Prediction: Manchester City 3-1 Crystal Palace

Arsenal v Newcastle

It’s not an easy time to be an Arsenal supporter, even as Mikel Arteta’s side have banished the unthinkable relegation fears that had crept onto many people’s radar towards the end of 2020.

But even though the Gunners have had a few wins, Arteta is the first to admit that his side lack quality in the final third – and that their failure to secure goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is doing significant damage.

Fortunately, they have another chance to beat Newcastle, which has seen them extend the FA Cup third round, and it’s an opportunity they can seize with the visitors lacking in confidence.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle
