Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hints at Amad Diallo’s debut soon

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that 18-year-old Amad Diallo, signed in January, could be included in a squad of the day as soon as possible, after impressing in his early training sessions since arriving from Atalanta this month.

Diallo, who received the former number 19 shirt from Marcus Rashford, arrives highly rated but with little first-team experience due to his age and United planned to be patient to ensure he had time to settle in a whole new environment.

Still, Diallo himself would always have the opportunity to force the manager’s hand to include him sooner if he hits the ground while running in practice… and it appears to be.

“He enjoyed training and can make a difference which is remarkable at his age. I can’t see it’s too long before he’s in the squad, ”Solskjaer said of the Ivorian-born starlet as United prepared to face Fulham on Wednesday night.

“It could be faster than [four to five weeks], it is permanently installed. The players took him, he’s a good character, a polite, smiling boy who works very hard.

United have had a similar approach with teenage colleague Facundo Pellistri this season, having signed the 18-year-old from Uruguayan giant Penarol on the same day the Diallo deal was first announced on deadline day in October. .

Pellistri trained with the first team and has been on the bench a few times for Champions League games against Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir, but is still awaiting his first-team debut and did until now played only the under 23s. Games.

Pellistri made an impact with the chain’s second goal in successive Premier League 2 games in December. But his chance to make his first-team debut took a big hit when he tested positive for COVID-19 shortly before United played Watford in the FA Cup earlier this month.
