Bengaluru FC interim head coach took contributions from outgoing manager Carles Cuadrat until last night…

Bengaluru FC face East Bengal on Saturday night in what promises to be an intriguing tie. The Blues enter the game after three straight losses while the Rouge et Or claimed their first victory earlier this week.

Carles Cuadrat has been dismissed from his coaching duties and so far Naushad Moosa, who was an assistant coach, has been handed the reins. The former Air India manager has promised Bengaluru FC will play an entertaining brand of football under him, starting this weekend against East Bengal.

“East Bengal are a decent team. They are doing better. Bright (Enobakhare) is a talented player. We will play more entertaining football. We can assure you that. We have to stay compact when we lose the ball. We had less clean sheets. The goal is not to concede goals at the start, ”said Moosa.

Bengaluru FC occupy fifth place in the standings and remain very present in the mix for qualifying for the play-offs. In fact, their next seven games are against teams that have placed themselves below them.

Moosa said that while the club reeling from the embarrassment of three losses and Cuadrat’s departure, the players were very focused on getting three points against the Calcutta side. He added that they would approach the game aggressively.

“It’s not an easy situation for the club. We are professionals. We have an important game tomorrow. The players know that. In those seven years, this happened for the first time that we have lost three games in a row. It is not easy for them to digest. They want to bounce back. We have to leave everything behind and focus on the next game.

“I had my first training yesterday. There were a lot of positives. Looking forward to a more positive and aggressive game tomorrow, ”he said.

Moosa said his team will look to start on the front foot and attack East Bengal from the start.

“The work done by Carles and (Albert) Roca is incredible. I have nothing more to do. We don’t have enough time. We play two games in quick succession. For now, it’s just simple. Play like we played. Focus on the ball and try to play more attacking football, ”he shared his thoughts.

Bengaluru FC have scored 12 goals in nine appearances this season. Moosa believes more players need to get into the bottom third if they are to make the most of the small chances they create.

“It’s a part we are working on (without scoring a lot of goals). We have gone through all the videos. We felt we were outnumbered in the third striker. We will seek to have more numbers by attacking the third and will seek to create more scoring opportunities, ”he said.

Harmanjot Khabra is suspended for the game against East Bengal, meaning Moosa will field a makeshift right-back or likely move Rahul Bheke to that position.

“For tomorrow’s game itself, we will have two or three young people playing. But at the same time, we don’t want to make too many changes. After losing three games there is pressure on all the players but I try to keep them relaxed. Khabra came out with four yolks. We will have a youngster there. Maybe we need more time and we will attract more young people, ”he said.

Moosa admitted to spending a lot of time with Cuadrat in order to solicit his contributions. He also had meetings with most of the players to establish a working relationship with them which will be mutually beneficial.

“To be honest, I had two sleepless nights. It’s not easy to manage a team like Bengaluru FC. The expectation is so high. The pressure has dropped. But the players are working so well, it gives me confidence that they want to do it for me. With a positive result tomorrow the pressure will drop more for me and I will be able to work with more confidence.

“I have met all the players. We’re trying to figure out how they feel about me as a coach. If they don’t have the respect, I doubt they will give their best. After talking, I felt really good. I was with Carles until 12 p.m. last night. We were discussing each player. We have not finished because we have 11 games in progress. We will work as a team, try to win and try to make the playoffs, ”he signed.
