The excitement is touching the sky as the most-awaited T20 League of the year is just around the corner. The fans in Pakistan can’t wait for the madness to begin as their favorite Pakistan Super League (PSL) edition five is coming to Pakistan completely.
Yes, the authorities within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have announced that the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is going to be played on the home soil of Pakistan.
It is also being reported that the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the former World-Cup winning captain of the country also issued orders of hosting the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) completely in Pakistan.
After the confirmation of this news, all of the PSL franchises starting preparing for the PSL 2020 Draft which was held in Lahore last year in December. The new franchise of Multan Sultans also performed extremely well in the PSL Draft and shaped up a very balanced squad.
The Multan Sultans have brought in the former England coach Andy Flower to serve as the Head Coach of the franchise. Andy was the captain of the Zimbabwe Cricket team and he was a very ambitious batsman and leader.
Multan Sultans PSL-5 Complete Squad:
During the PSL 2020 Draft, Multan Sultans opted for so many English players because they were available for the whole season. The English all-rounder Moeen Ali was the first pick for the Multan Sultans in the Platinum Category.
They had already retained the former captain Shahid Afridi, the tall and lanky pacer Mohammad Irfan and a few other young players like Abdullah Shafiq and Mohammad Ilyas. Test opener of Pakistan Shan Masood also managed to retain his place in the side along with the experienced pacer Junaid Khan.
As far as their experienced foreign players are concerned, then Rilee Rossouw from South Africa moved from Quetta Gladiators to Multan Sultans. Imran Tahir has been picked once again by the Multan franchise as he played for the same team in the previous few editions as well. The dashing English opener James Vince is going to feature for the Multan Sultans once again in the PSL 5.
Multan Sultans also became the first franchise in the whole history of the Pakistan Super League to have opted for a wild-card entry into the Diamond category. The left-handed opening batsman from South Punjab Zeeshan Ashraf was picked in the Diamond category by Ali Tareen and company.
Ravi Bopara and Sohail Tanvir are going to add to the experience of the side whilst Bilawal Bhatti is going to accompany them in the fast bowling department. West Indies’ all-rounder Fabian Allen has been picked by the Multan Sultans and he’s becoming a hot commodity in the T20 Leagues around the world.
For some power-hitting late down the order, Khushdil Shah is going to provide the fireworks for the South-Punjab franchise. The captain of the U-19 side of Pakistan Rohail Nazir has been picked by the Multan Sultans as their wicket-keeper batsman in the squad.
Usman Qadir, the son of the legendary Abdul Qadir will also get the opportunity to play in the PSL-5 as he was roped in by the Sultans in the latter half of the PSL 2020 Draft.
Usman Qadir is going to play with Imran Tahir and train under Mushtaq Ahmed, the legendary leg-spinner of Pakistan. Mushtaq Ahmed is going to serve as the spin-bowling coach of the franchise.
