Manchester United roster set to start against Leicester on Boxing Day
Manchester United will travel to King Power Stadium on Boxing Day to take on Leicester City, in a clash that will have ramifications in the race for the top four.
The Red Devils enter the Premier League game unbeaten since November 1, while Leicester have just claimed a big win against Tottenham.
As Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to push towards a potential title charge, he needs to select his team well to ensure the best possible chances. Here’s how he should line up his team to get all three points against Leicester.
David De Gea (GK) – Solskjaer’s number one didn’t hurt himself against Leeds and is expected to continue in the starting lineup here.
Brandon Williams (RB) – Set to get his first Premier League start to the season after Aaron Wan-Bissaka suffered an injury against Leeds and missed the midweek game with Everton.
Victor Lindelof (CB) – In great shape this season and scored his first of the season last time around. It can be said that Manchester United’s best center-back right now has to start.
Harry Maguire (CB) – Club captain, he starts as soon as he’s fit and available. Don’t expect that to change against his old club.
Luke Shaw (LB) – Has returned from an injury and is apparently preferred over Alex Telles. Been in good shape too.
Fred (CM) – Reliable and energetic, Solskjaer has shown he trusts the Brazilian on the defensive end and therefore should start here.
Paul Pogba (CM) – With Scott McTominay injured, Pogba is expected to return to the squad to help United keep the ball and add an additional goal threat from midfield.
Bruno Fernandes (CAM) – The man. He starts when he’s in good shape and almost always gets a goal or a starting aid.
Mason Greenwood (RW) – Has had a difficult start to the season but his quality is undeniable. The versatility on the front line makes him an essential start in this great game.
Marcus Rashford (LW) – United’s top striker, Rashford is in great shape at the moment. Will is hoping for his chances against the full-back who stands in his way.
Anthony Martial (ST) – Had his best campaign performance so far against Leeds with two assists. Has some catching up to do when it comes to goals, but confidence is in place after winning the Carabao Cup quarterfinal victory over Everton.
