Manchester United linked to summer transfer of Robin Le Normand from Real Sociedad

Manchester United are reportedly interested in Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand, although he is unlikely to make a move for him before the summer due to his high release clause.

The Normand has performed well this season, helping La Real to set one of La Liga’s best defensive records. Imanol Alguacil’s team are currently fifth in the table, with the summer addition of David Silva proving a masterstroke so far.

According to the Daily Mail (via Grada3), Le Normand’s good start to the season has not gone unnoticed with United monitoring him closely. It has long been reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not entirely happy with his defensive options and many center-backs have been linked with the club over the past 12 months.

The Norman is the last named to be mentioned, but the Red Devils should spend a lot to secure his services. He currently has a € 75million (£ 66.3million) release clause, having signed a new contract this summer, and La Real is unlikely to let him go for anything less.

The Basque club have shown that it is not child’s play in the transfer market in the past, selling Diego Llorente for £ 18million to Leeds United in September. Alvaro Odriozola was also sold for £ 27million a few years ago, and they managed to keep Mikel Oyarzabal despite strong interest from Manchester City.

However, United cannot be ruled out making a move this summer, especially if the 24-year-old continues to impress with his solid performances.

It is understood that the Red Devils remain keen to pursue long-term goal Jadon Sancho at the end of the season, although 90 mins understands that the player was frustrated by the long saga of the last year, which means that his is now approaching his future with an open mind.
