Man Utd starlet Tahith Chong joins Club Brugge after Werder Bremen loan failure

Manchester United have interrupted starlet Tahith Chong’s one-season loan to Werder Bremen, so the winger can spend the remainder of the campaign at Club Brugge in Belgium.

The young Dutchman hasn’t had a particularly successful period in the Bundesliga, making just 13 league appearances and completing a full 90 minutes on one occasion.

He was an unused replacement in Werder Bremen’s 1-1 draw with Schalke on Saturday – as he was in their previous three outings – so the Red Devils decided to end the deal.

Man Utd have confirmed they have terminated Chong’s loan with the German side and immediately negotiated a move to Club Brugge, which was announced on Saturday night.

And the winger himself bade farewell to Werder Bremen Twitter, stating that he learned a lot during his time there, and wishing his former teammates and staff the best of luck on their journey.

“It was a pleasure to represent this club [Werder] for a few months, ”he wrote.

“Although it wasn’t long, I learned a lot and left the club with great memories and friendships. Good luck for the rest of the season. ”

The player and his parent club hope to see major progress over the next few months, having signed a new contract in March 2020 to tie his future to Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old has put a pen to a new contract that will make him a Man Utd player until the end of June 2022, although it is also possible to extend the deal for another year.

Chong has often been followed by some of the European giants, with Italy’s Inter side apparently on the verge of snatching the Red Devil last year, before finally deciding to stay at Manchester.
