Leeds United have confirmed that the San Francisco 49ers have made a new investment in the squad and increased their stake to 37%.
49ers Enterprises made a minority investment in the club in 2018, but 90 mins revealed in July 2020 that team owners, the York family, wanted to expand their property on the Elland Road side.
Talks between the two sides have since continued and Leeds took to their official website to confirm that a deal has been reached which will also see 49ers Enterprises chairman Paraag Marathe become the club’s vice chairman.
“We are delighted to welcome further investment into our club from 49ers Enterprises and I have no doubts that this latest partnership will help Leeds United continue to grow and become the team our supporters deserve,” said the president Andrea Radrizzani in a statement.
“I have always been willing to bring partners on this journey with me, as long as these actions can benefit the club’s long-term strategy. Paraag and the team at 49ers Enterprises are uniquely placed to work with myself, Angus Kinnear, Victor Orta and our management team to help us achieve our goals.
“Now that we have reached promotion and got a good start for the new campaign, there is no better time to look ahead as we aim to take this football club to the next level, from first by becoming an established Premier League. side before pursuing our dreams of bringing Leeds United back to Europe.

Radrizzani still remains the club’s majority shareholder, and Marathe has stressed his desire to continue working alongside the current president to try to take Leeds to the next level.
