James Maddison happy to ‘nail’ Ben Chilwell when Leicester take on Chelsea
James Maddison has claimed he would have no problem ‘nailing’ best friend Ben Chilwell with a tight tackle when the two meet this week for the first time since the latter’s summer move from Leicester to Chelsea.
Chilwell played 123 times for Leicester after stepping out of the club’s youth ranks and forged a strong bond with Maddison when he arrived at King Power Stadium in 2018.
Maddison has yet to face his former team-mate but will do so when Chelsea visit on Tuesday night.
The 24-year-old said he was happy his boyfriend got the transfer he was hoping for, which meant the opportunity to play in the Champions League for his new club. It is Leicester, however, who seem more likely to finish in the top four this season as it stands.
“Chilly was my best friend in Leicester. I’m so happy for him because I knew he wanted to move to Chelsea, it’s such a big change for him with Champions League football and whatever he wanted to do, ”Maddison explained.
“At the same time my best mate is leaving the club I play for, so it was a bittersweet moment. We didn’t play each other but I won’t think twice before I nail it.
Maddison has returned to great shape this season and is poised to produce the most prolific campaign of his top-flight career. He has already scored six times in all competitions, including four in the Premier League, and is just three behind his record from last season.
James Maddison will debut with the new PUMA Future Z during the Leicester vs Chelsea game on Tuesday night – the shoes are now available at prodirectsport.com
