Every New Year brings a lot of excitement with it because, in the first few months of each year, the fans back home in Pakistan wait for their favorite T20 carnival. The Pakistan Super League has well and truly gained the attention and applause it deserves. 

The domestic T20 competition of Pakistan based on the idea of franchises was inaugurated in 2016 when the tournament was hosted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).  However, this time around, the complete fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is going to be played in Pakistan across four venues.

And we’re going to talk about the champions of the first-ever edition of the PSL. Islamabad United outplayed everyone in the first season of the PSL and they won the first edition of the PSL under the leadership of the current Head Coach and Chief Selector Misbah-ul-Haq.

Misbah-ul-Haq is going to join them once again as the Head Coach after Dean Jones went to Karachi Kings and was released by the United’s management.

The Red-Hot Army of Islamabad United has been the most successful franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) so far. They have won two titles in 2016 and 2018 respectively. For the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Islamabad United has opted for a much-stronger squad and they’re looking good to have a shot at the title once again.

The Islamabad United management has not announced their new captain so far but their complete squad is here to reveal. The Islamabad United squad is looking extremely explosive with Luke Ronchi opening the batting with Colin Munro.

Yes, you heard it right. The dashing Kiwi duo of Colin Munro and Luke Ronchi are going to open the batting for Islamabad United in the next season.  The talented all-rounder of Pakistan and the t20 star of the leagues Shadab Khan is retained by Islamabad United along with Asif Ali, Hussain Tallat and Amad Butt.

Faheem Ashraf was the top wicket-taker for Islamabad United in the last season of the PSL and he’s going to be their platinum player for the upcoming season. Musa Khan, the young pace prodigy played for United in the last season and he is going to showcase his talent once again along with the other handy all-rounder Zafar Gohar.

Zafar had a fantastic outing in the recently concluded Quaid-e-Azam Trophy as he scored a 99 in the final of the competition and was amongst the top-wicket takers of the tournament as well. Colin Ingram also moved to United after spending four years with Karachi Kings.

The Prince Rumman Raees was released by Islamabad United by they went for him once again in the PSL 2020 draft last month in Lahore. Their most exciting pick is perhaps the inclusion of the Proteas’ fast bowler Dale Steyn. Dale is going to make his debut with Islamabad United in the upcoming PSL. Phil Salt and Rassie Van Der Dussen have also been picked by the Islamabad United Squad.
