East Begnal are set to face Hyderabad FC goalkeeper Subrata Paul while Sankar Roy is expected to sign the dotted line for the Nizams., Goal can confirm.
Subrata, 34, has made six appearances for Hyderabad this season and kept two sheets clean. Hyderabad coach Manuel Marquez had confirmed that the India international had a knee problem, which caused Laxmikant Kattimani to start in his place for the last five games.
The Tata Football Academy (TFA) product has retained up to 28 clean sheets during its ISL career with 91 appearances at clubs such as Mumbai City, NorthEast United, Jamshedpur and Hyderabad.
Having started his senior career with Mohun Bagan, this will be Subrata’s second stint with East Bengal after the 2008-09 season in which he won the Federation Cup.
Interestingly, Subrata never made it to the playoffs with the four ISL clubs he represented in the past.
On the other hand, Roy conceded nine goals in 14 I-League appearances last season with Mohun Bagan as they won the league title. He also kept six clean sheets and was preferred by then manager Kibu Vicuna as he was known to play from the full back.
The only game the 25-year-old has played in Red and gold under Robbie Fowler was against Jamshedpur FC in which he kept a clean sheet as a 10-man East Bengal held the Men of Steel to a goalless draw.
Hyderabad are currently fourth in the ISL table with 17 points in 12 games, while East Bengal is second from the bottom with 12 points in 13 games.
