ISL Companion Jackichand Singh reunites with Sergio Lobera to win the title

0

Since 2014, Jackichand Singh has played for eight teams and this includes five clubs in the Indian Super League (ISL). If Jackichand’s Instagram bio doesn’t contain the word “wanna travel,” we’re rioting.

The Manipur winger started his career with Royal Wahingdoh and has since been an effective outlet on the flanks of every team he’s a part of. As of January 2021, he had 13 goals and 13 assists in 85 ISL appearances.

Jackichand has also managed to find a decent number of first-team minutes at all of these clubs. He has totaled over 1,000 minutes in each of the past four seasons. Does that mean he’s really good?

The 28-year-old Indian international winger is one of those players who gives 100% every time he comes out on the pitch. He also scores a six out of ten in every game, which means he’s neither world class nor terrible in most games. This makes him a popular choice for managers who want their wingers to not only work hard off the ball, but also try to be adventurous in the final third.

As he begins his new stint with Mumbai City after spending the first half of the season at Jamshedpur, the player already has three assists under his belt. It is also a double meeting for the player.

Only once in the past six years has Jackichand spent more than a season at the same club and that was at FC Goa under the management of Sergio Lobera. In his first season with the Gaurs, Jacki had four goals and four assists. In his second, he further improved his goal tally, recording five goals and three assists in 18 matches.

SEASONS CLUB CITY
2009-2015 Royal Wahingdoh Shillong
2015-16 FC Pune City Pune
2016 Salgaocar FC Goa
2016 Mumbai City FC Bombay
2017 East Bengal Calcutta
2017-18 Kerala blasters Kochi
2018-20 FC Goa Goa
2020-21 Jamshedpur FC Jamshedpur
2020-21 Mumbai City FC Bombay

It is also his second stint with Mumbai City. He played eight games and scored one goal for the Islanders in ISL’s third season.

Lobera’s Mumbai sits comfortably at the top of the table with a five-point lead over second-placed ATK Mohun Bagan after 12 matches. Jackichand’s arrival will give the gaffer more options to tinker with as the City Football Group-owned club battles for the title.
