“Love does not look with the eyes but with the spirit and is therefore… a personalized birthday cake in Bradford City.” That’s how the quote from Shakespeare goes, right?
In a story that gave us all hope that 2021 might be a little more fun than 2020, American model Gigi Hadid gifted her partner Zayn Malik an amazing personalized Bantam-themed birthday cake to celebrate the 28 years of the singer.
The former One Direction member has been a lifelong Bradford fan – and the cake is definitely something to see.

Made by Carlo’s Bakery, the attention to detail is ridiculous. As shared on Hadid’s Insta stories to her 62 million followers (arguably the largest crowd in Ligue 2 history), the cake comes complete with the 2014/15 season jersey – the year the Bantams reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a famous 4-2 return victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
It’s an incredible effort from Hadid, whose only other public adventure in the world of football appears to be an appearance at a PSG game in 2015.
There’s even a Bradford ticket with a time and date, saying, “Happy Birthday Z! Love G. ”
However, the small details have made real fans question the authenticity – a 3pm kickoff on a Tuesday, Gigi ?!
Can blame it on Covid’s crazy schedule, I guess.
Bradford got in on the act too, taking to Twitter write: “Happy belated birthday to @zaynmalik… ‘We hope your day was as special as your cake!”
Hopefully Malik’s love for the Bantams has worn off at Hadid, and with the model turning 26 in April, we think there is nothing she would love more than a Billy Clarke shirt and a trip to Valley Parade. Make it happen, Zayn.

Malik is not the only former member of One Direction with a passion for football, along with his former comrade Louis Tomlinson who signed for his childhood club Doncaster Rovers in 2013.
Tomlinson appeared for the reserve and participated in a few charity games. He played for Celtic in a charity match for Stiliyan Petrov, where he was injured by Gabby Agbonlahor, which led to the former Villa man being abused by One Direction fans on Twitter.
We look forward to Harry Styles connecting with another club in the Northern Football League in the coming months.
