Fulham hopes to land Josh Maja on deadline loan

Fulham is approaching the signing deadline of Bordeaux striker Josh Maja on loan for the remainder of the season, responding to manager Scott Parker’s request for a striker to add more options up front and help them. Cottagers to stay in the Premier League.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is currently Fulham’s only recognized center-forward and the lack of goals is what keeps the club in the relegation zone after a defensive improvement over the past six weeks.

Sky Sports reports that talks about a short-term deal for Maja are ongoing, while the Daily Mail adds that Fulham is confident a deal will be reached before the window closes.

Born in London, Maja joined Bordeaux from Sunderland in January 2019 after refusing a new contract with the Black Cats.

He had previously played in Fulham’s youth ranks before making the first-team breakthrough at the Stadium of Light, so a return to West London will be familiar territory for the 22-year-old.

Maja has scored 15 times in 24 appearances for Sunderland in Ligue 1 during the first half of the 2018/19 season. He has started 11 times for Bordeaux in Ligue 1 this season, but has only scored twice in 17 matches and not at all since October.

Maja is a 71-ranked player on FIFA 21, with a career mode potential of 80.

Rhythm is his biggest asset at 76, with 69 each for shooting and dribbling, 57 each for passing and physique and 28 for defense.

Although English by birth, Maja represents Nigeria internationally through her parents’ nationality and made her senior debut in September 2019.

He was a late substitute in a friendly against Ukraine, which actually means he’s not locked up for Nigeria for good and could theoretically change his allegiance to England at the future if a summons is ever in sight before he has played competitively for the Super. Eagles.

Fulham has been credited with interest in the deadline for Joshua King of Bournemouth, who has also been closely linked with Southampton in a deal that could involve Shane Long.

King was wanted by Manchester United last January. He scored 48 Premier League goals for the Cherries in their five top-flight seasons, but failed to find the net in 12 league appearances in what has been a stop-start campaign for the Norwegian.
