FIFA 21: Ultimate Team TOTY revealed
The wait is over. After a few weeks of voting, the FIFA 21 Ultimate Team Team of the Year is finally here.
More than 10 million fans of the game voted in 185 countries, selecting 11 players who they say performed better than anyone on the planet in 2020. Lionel Messi is the side’s star omission, as is Neymar, but there is has seats for Robert Lewandowski, Bruno Fernandes and Kylian Mbappe.
The player’s final ratings have yet to be disclosed, but you can rest assured that they will receive some of the craziest cards you can see on. FIFA 21.
Here’s the XI in its entirety, with details on why each player is likely to have made the cut.
Manuel Neuer (GK) – Bayern Munich have lost just one game in 2020. A. They owe much of that success to Neuer, who has firmly established himself as one of the best.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) – The Alexander-Arnold crossing stunned fans around the world last year, and no one on the planet came near him.
Virgil van Dijk (CB) – Van Dijk was perhaps the best center-back in the world in 2020, and he didn’t even play after being injured at the ACL in October. That’s how good the Liverpool man was.
Sergio Ramos (CB) – A regular at TOTY, Ramos missed Matthijs de Ligt in FIFA 20 but forced his return to the squad this time around after capturing La Liga.
Alphonso Davies (LB) – Without a doubt the most entertaining full-back in the world, Davies has captured the hearts of fans around the world with his enthusiastic and dominant work in the success of Bayern’s European and domestic trip.
Joshua Kimmich (CM) – It’s not hard to find someone who thinks Kimmich is the undisputed best player on the planet these days, so a place in the TOTY was never in doubt.
Kevin De Bruyne (CM) – It’s three years in a row for De Bruyne, who has spent 2020 creating goals for Manchester City at a ridiculous rate.
Bruno Fernandes (CM) – The Manchester United savior was in ridiculous form in 2020, racking up goals and assists at a rate no one else in the Premier League could match.
Kylian Mbappe (ST) – Mbappe sent PSG back to another Ligue 1 title and even led his side to the Champions League final for the first time in recent memory.
Robert Lewandowski (ST) – Stolen from the Ballon d’Or, Lewandowski has managed to win the FIFA Best Male Player award, and he has a TOTY trophy to add to his cabinet.
Cristiano Ronaldo (ST) – The top scorer in football history was his prolific usual in 2020. Ronaldo broke Serie A and Champions League records, so he fully deserves a place on this team. He won’t mind having one on Messi either.
