Atkins Nutritionals just recently announced they’re filing for Chapter eleven bankruptcy protection. It would seem the “low carbohydrate craze” was nothing more than simply a passing fad. Well the buddies of mine I’ve arrived at both praise and bury the Atkins Diet.
I 1st found low carb diet programs aproximatelly 15 years in the past — well before the recent popularity of theirs. My first introduction was through a book entitled “The Endocrine Control Diet.” Like the Atkins Diet along with other low carbohydrate diets for that matter, it was based on a severely restricted carbohydrate intake — below 50 grams of carbs per day. You add your body into a state of ketosis and pressure it to burn off fat rather than sugar.
I was amazed at how quick I was able to drop pounds on the diet. If memory serves correctly, I dropped 15 lbs in little over 7 days. Of course, a percentage of it was water and muscle weight, however, I also dropped quite a great deal of excess fat. I may tell it was fat because my waistline shrunk substantially.
The “Endocrine Control Diet” was rigid about keeping carbs very low and remaining in a state of ketosis until you reached your fat loss goal.
