Ex-teammate claims Kylian Mbappe ‘really wants’ to go to Real Madrid
Ex-Real Madrid striker Jese Rodriguez has fueled fire over Kylian Mbappe’s desire to swap Parc des Princes for the Santiago Bernabeu in the near future.
Having left Paris Saint-Germain late last year, Jese recently signed for Las Palmas. When the subject of Mbappe was brought up in an interview, the former Stoke City man was not shy about discussing his former teammate’s long-term ambitions.
Jese revealed, via COPE’s El Partidazo: “Mbappe really wants to go to Madrid. [He] started to [watch] Madrid when he was 16, Cristiano [Ronaldo] was his idol.
“He likes [Real] Madrid and I’m sure he will play there one day. “
Mbappe signed for PSG from Monaco initially on loan before a transfer fee of over £ 150million was paid to secure his services.
The World Cup winner’s current deal with Mauricio Pochettino’s side will expire in June 2022 and there has been a lot of speculation about his next move with Real Madrid and Liverpool strongly linked.
Last week the Premier League champions were singled out as strong contenders for the superstar striker, while Real Madrid are also set to bid this summer. if they can find the funds in the midst of the economic crisis.
While PSG are clearly looking to retain one of their key strengths, there is growing speculation that he could be sold this summer if a contract extension cannot be agreed.
Mbappe has scored 107 impressive goals and provided 59 assists in just 149 appearances so far for his current employers and as a result he is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world with 90 mins naming him among the top five forwards in the world in 2020 Welcome to World Class series.
A stint in La Liga and Los Blancos specifically resembles the fate of the 22-year-old, who has never shied away from sharing his admiration for the Spanish champions in the media. He has also spoken with praise in the past of the club’s current boss Zinedine Zidane.
