Do big names guarantee good entertainment?
The answer to this question might be yes, might be no. Being a diehard fan of a particular actor or actress might be the only reason some people watch their dramas or films, but there should definitely be more reasons than that to invest our time watching the TV. Some people watch it for the big names whereas some for the issues it portrays. However, we do appreciate the work and effort put into all our national creations and are very proud of them.
Now let us talk about BIG BIG names we see on our TV these days. Dramas like Alif with a star studded cast including Hamza Ali Abbasi, Sajal Aly and Kubra Khan is on air and doing very very well. Written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Haseeb Hasan, it is very unlikely that this show will not be a giant success. The whole cast of this drama was very excited and expressed how they felt about the drama very openly. Umera Ahmed was also interviewed by several sources and she claimed that this drama is something new in the Pakistani industry and she will soon release an audio book for it too.
On the other hand, another star studded drama Mere Pass Tum Ho in which we can see Ayeza Khan, Humayun Saeed, Hira Mani and Asad Siddiqui. It has been written by Khalil-ur-Rehman and directed by none other than Nadeem Baig. It has just recently been on air and the promos were nothing out of the box but it is always good to see Humayun Saeed in his typical hopeless romantic role.
The storyline seems nothing different than previously aired dramas like Mere Khuaab Reza Reza, but the people up till now seem to enjoy the cast. Ayeza Khan on the other hand plays a role of greedy and ambitious wife which is not a new character in Pakistani dramas, but having been written by Khalil-ur-Rehman and directed by Nadeem Baig will definitely pull some audiences towards this serial.
Lastly, our industry has come so far and beyond what it was before and we love our beautiful actors and actresses. With people becoming so diverse in what they like and what they don’t, there’s always someone who’d love a project and someone who wouldn’t.
