Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was named Premier League player of the month in December for his performances which helped put his side at the helm.
This is the second consecutive month in which Fernandes has won the Individual Award, as he also made history as the first player to win four times in a single calendar year following previous victories in February and June, as well as November. .
“Three goals and four assists have been a full month. Rating and helping your teammates is perfect. I want to win more trophies and awards, but I’m really happy to make history, ”the Portugal international said on the Premier League official website.
Initially rested, Fernandes was brought to half-time in United’s opener in December and helped the team to a 3-1 victory after calling.
He went on to get two goals and an assist in a 6-2 beating from Leeds in the club’s last game before Christmas, a goal and an assist in a 2-2 draw with Leicester on Boxing Day, as well as another passes in a 1-0 win over Wolves to end the month and calendar year.
As a team, United went from seventh in late November to second in late December. Now that momentum has continued into January and they are at the top of the list.
This weekend Fernandes and United face second place Liverpool at Anfield in what will now be the biggest game of the 2020/21 season so far.

United also completed a series of WSL Player and Coach of the Month awards, with Leah Galton and Casey Stoney respectively recognized. This is the second consecutive month that the league leaders have received both awards, with Tobin Heath having already won in November.
