Barcelona have unveiled a new shirt that they will wear when they next meet rivals Real Madrid later this season.
With the motto ‘Una samarreta ens agermana”(“ A jersey unites us ”), Barcelona have combined the club’s colors with those of the Senyera de Catalunya flag in an attempt to bring the club closer to its historical roots.
Barcelona have brought back legendary defender Carles Puyol to model the shirt, which they unveiled on their official website and is now available for purchase.
The shirt stays true to Barca’s famous stripes but has received an updated color scheme. The Senyera’s yellow and red stripes gradually fade further down the shirt, standing out boldly against the blue base.
The Senyera flag is also featured on the cuffs, while the collar is pure yellow to match the accents of the Nike and Rakuten logos.
The accompanying shorts and socks are both blue, but the socks will also feature yellow and red towards the top.
Developed from 100% recycled polyester, Barcelona have worked tirelessly with Nike to create a material from molten plastic bottles optimized for sport at no additional cost to the environment.
“If you need a reason to give it your all in such difficult times, don’t look outside of yourself. These reasons are in all of us, ”said Puyol, calling on fans to come together to help each other. the current struggles that all face.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are set to face each other on April 11, when Ronald Koeman joins the Santiago Bernabeu for the second clash between the two rivals this season.
The first, which was held back in October, ended in a humiliating 3-1 loss to Real at Camp Nou, with Ansu Fati’s goal not being enough to cancel strikes from Federico Valverde, Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric.
