Alphonso Davies names four players as future Ballon d’Or contenders

Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies has delivered his verdict on the current young stars of the match who have the potential to win the Ballon d’Or and the footballers he enjoys watching the most.

The Canadian winger has become one of the best talents in the world since moving to Bayern in 2018, playing a key role as the Bavarians won the treble last season.

Davies also won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year award last season and received a Golden Boy nomination, and already has a number of memorable performances to his name – he notably tore Nelson Semedo apart in battle. Barcelona’s Champions League 8-2 from Bayern in August.

Already playing such a crucial role in a huge squad, Davies supported himself to be a future Ballon d’Or contender, and also gave his approval to two Englishmen who could challenge him for the prize.

Talk to 90 mins, Davies said: “I definitely think [Erling] Haaland is up there I think [Jadon] Sancho is up there too. I think I can be up there for the Ballon d’Or.

“There are a lot of good young players, Phil Foden has played really well this season. The list is long, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see in the future who gets nominated or not. ”

The 20-year-old is undoubtedly one of the funniest footballers to watch and has listed the players he enjoys watching the most.

“For me it was a lot of players,” he said. “Didier drogba, [Lionel] Messi, [Cristiano] Ronaldo. I like flair players, I like to watch them. Thiago too!

“Overall it’s fair [about] enjoy soccer. You see all the skills of these players and you see them over time and as a kid you want to try them out. It’s pretty fun. “

Davies is fortunate enough to add the FIFA Club World Cup to his growing list of honors when Bayern kick off their campaign in Qatar on February 8.
