Pakistani fast bowling legend Wasim Akram named his dream bowling partners as part of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) campaign on social media.
In a video message, the big left arm revealed that he would like to play alongside former pacemakers Sarfaraz Nawaz and Fazal Mahmood due to their unique bowling prowess.
“I have played with a lot of great players like Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar and Abdul Razzaq, but if I had to choose someone from the past it would be Sarfaraz Nawaz and Fazal Mahmood,” said Akram.
“Nawaz was best known as the inventor of reverse swing while Mahmood’s leg cutter was incredible,” he added.
Mahmood is considered Pakistan’s first great fast bowler, who took 139 wickets with a bowling average of 24.7 in 34 tests. Meanwhile, Nawaz played 55 Tests and 45 One Day Internationals (ODI), claiming 177 and 63 wickets, respectively.
The 53-year-old also named Pakistan’s rookie runner, Naseem Shah, among his dream bowling partners.
“Speaking of the future, I would go for Naseem Shah,” he said. “He is young but he is a very fast bowler. He plays at a speed of over 150 and has the ability to cross that.”
During his illustrious career, Akram claimed 414 trial wickets and also bagged 502 ODI wickets.
